Gunmen have abducted a member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Laven Denty, who represents the Pankshin South Constituency.
According to reports, the lawmaker was taken from his residence in the Dong community, located in Jos North Local Government Area, late on Monday night.
The incident has thrown the community into shock and fear, as Plateau State continues to battle worsening insecurity marked by frequent kidnappings and violent attacks on rural settlements.
This is not the first time Dong community has been targeted. Only last week, armed men stormed the area and kidnapped two young people

a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and a student from the University of Jos.
The attackers had broken into the family home of one Solomon Dansura around 10 p.m., seizing his guests before disappearing without a trace.
The abduction of Hon. Denty has heightened tension among residents, many of whom are calling on security agencies to take urgent and decisive action.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Plateau State Government nor the Police Command has made an official statement on the incident.
It is also unclear whether contact has been established with the kidnappers or if a ransom demand has been made.

The development adds to the growing concern over the safety of lawmakers, students, and ordinary citizens in Plateau, a state where insecurity has continued to spread and disrupt daily life.
