President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday held a private meeting with Sule Lamido, a former Governor of Jigawa State and a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), during his one-day official visit to Kaduna State.

The meeting between the President and the opposition party leader has attracted attention, as Lamido is known as one of the founding figures of the PDP and a strong voice in northern politics.

Though details of their discussion were not made public, political observers believe it may be connected to national unity, reconciliation, and preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
During his visit, Tinubu is also expected to pay a courtesy call on Aisha Buhari, the widow of late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Since Buhari’s passing, Mrs. Buhari has been residing in the family’s Kaduna home.

The President’s visit is seen as both a sign of respect for the former First Lady and an effort to strengthen ties with the Buhari family.

President Tinubu’s Kaduna trip comes at a time of heightened political activities across the country, with conversations about alliances and cooperation already beginning despite the next elections being two years away.

Analysts suggest that Tinubu’s outreach to figures like Lamido could be part of broader efforts to build bridges beyond party lines.

After completing his engagements in Kaduna, Tinubu is scheduled to return to Abuja later today.
