The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, has announced that several FCT projects will be inaugurated in May to mark President Bola Tinubu’s second year in office.
Wike made this known on Saturday in Abuja after inspecting the construction of a 30.4-kilometre road from the Abuja-Lokoja Expressway to Gomani in the Kwali Area Council of the FCT.
The project, awarded in two sections, consists of a 15-kilometre stretch from the Abuja-Lokoja Expressway (A2) to Pai and another 15.4-kilometre section from Pai to Gomani.
He assured that details of the projects set for inauguration would be made public in due course.
Expressing satisfaction with the progress of work, Wike commended the contractors for their efficiency and commitment to delivering on schedule.
“That is why I insisted that we will only give out jobs to contractors who show capacity and not based on sentiment. I am happy that the communities are happy. You can see how they came out in numbers to celebrate the progress of work so far,” he said.
The minister also appreciated the support of the area council chairman, youths, and community members in ensuring the smooth execution of the projects.
Since February 12, Wike has inspected 11 ongoing projects—nine in the city center and two in the Kwali Area Council.
