Nigerian female rapper Mocheddah has taken a trip down memory lane, sharing fond memories of her early years in the music industry during a recent appearance on the TeamwithTaypod podcast.
The talented artist, known for her unique style and lyrical prowess, gave listeners a glimpse into her journey, from her humble beginnings to her current status as a respected figure in the Nigerian music scene.
Mocheddah revealed that she started frequenting music studios at the tender age of 14, where she would watch and learn from industry veterans.
She also shared stories of her time spent with Wizkid, before they both rose to fame, and how they would often collaborate on music projects.
“I became a studio rat at 14. Wizkid and I would go to studios in Ojuelegba together. We’d watch and learn from veteran musicians and producers. Later, I became friends with Wizkid and Ice Prince, and we’d go to studios together. We didn’t record, we just watched and got inspired”, Mocheddah shared.
The rapper’s passion and dedication to her craft were evident, even from a young age, and it’s clear that her hard work and perseverance have paid off.
During the podcast, Mocheddah also spoke about the challenges she faced as a female artist in a male-dominated industry.
She shared her experiences of being underestimated and overlooked, but also highlighted the importance of staying focused and true to oneself.
The female rapper also shared that her parents were concerned about her pursuing a career in music but eventually became supportive.
She noted that her mother played a key role in ensuring her safety by frequently escorting her to the studio and setting a strict curfew.
In her words, “My mom would take me to studios and I had a curfew.”
