Dr. Akinyemi Agbede, a Nigerian-born American, has announced his plan to run for governor of California in next year’s election.

His decision has excited his friends and political supporters. Dr. Agbede is not new to California politics, having previously run for both governor and senator. He contested the governor’s seat in 2014 and 2018 and also ran for the U.S. Senate in 2016 and 2022.

He believes his chances of winning are strong, especially after Kemi Badenoch’s recent success in the UK, where she became the leader of the Labour Party. He hopes to achieve a similar breakthrough in California.

Dr. Agbede’s campaign will focus on improving education, growing the economy, and promoting social justice—issues that are important to many Californians.

Born on May 5, 1964, in Lagos, Nigeria, Dr. Agbede has used his past experiences in politics to build support, making him a strong candidate in the upcoming election.

He emphasized the importance of diversity in leadership, saying his candidacy shows that Nigerian Americans can succeed in U.S. politics. Many people will be watching to see if he can make history and inspire more diverse candidates.

With a growing base of supporters and a clear plan for California’s future, Dr. Agbede is expected to be a serious competitor in the race.

He has strong academic qualifications, holding a Ph.D. in Mathematical Analysis from the University of Cambridge. He has spent much of his career helping students succeed in mathematics.
