Embattled Nigerian crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has declared that he will no longer accept any awards or recognitions meant for females. The controversial personality attributed his recent series of problems to receiving the Best Dressed Female award at actress Eniola Ajao’s movie premiere earlier in March 2024.

Bobrisky’s troubles began shortly after the event, where he was honored with the prestigious award and a ₦1 million cash prize. Following the ceremony, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested him for naira abuse, citing that he violated currency handling regulations during his celebratory moments. This led to a six-month jail sentence.

However, the saga didn’t end there. After completing his jail term, a leaked audio recording surfaced online in which Bobrisky allegedly boasted about bribing EFCC officials to avoid more severe money laundering charges.

The recording also claimed that he served his sentence in a luxury apartment rather than a standard correctional facility. The audio sparked public outrage, leading to a fresh investigation and his eventual re-arrest.

In a dramatic turn of events, Bobrisky reportedly fled the country following his release.

Taking to his Instagram story to reflect on his ordeal, he squarely blamed actress Eniola Ajao and the Best Dressed Female award for the chaos that has since unraveled.

“My problem started when I collected the Best Dressed Female award with ₦1 million prize at Eniola Ajao’s movie premiere,” Bobrisky wrote.

“For my life, if I see an award for Best Dressed Female, I go disappear from that location ASAP. Everyone knows the truth—I am a baddie with class. You wanna compete with me? Your mummy never!!!! But when the problem wan too much, make I run.”

The self-acclaimed social media influencer expressed regret over accepting the award and suggested it marked the beginning of his legal troubles and public ridicule.

Eniola Ajao, who organized the event where Bobrisky received the award, has yet to issue a statement regarding his claims. Meanwhile, social media remains abuzz with reactions, with some supporting Bobrisky’s stance and others criticizing his actions.

The entire debacle has further fueled debates about the controversies surrounding Bobrisky’s persona and lifestyle, as well as the legal and moral issues attached to his public conduct. For now, the crossdresser remains a polarizing figure, with his latest vow to avoid female awards drawing as much attention as his previous escapades.
