Popular Nigerian Gospel singer, Dele Agbeyo, popularly known as Dele Gold, has been laid to rest today, September, 19 2024.
Top Society reports that the singer’s burial held at his residence in Abule Egba, Lagos as the late singer’s wife, colleagues, children, and other close family members paid their last respect.
It would be recalled that the gospel singer passed away on September 11 after a brief illness was honoured with tributes celebrating his life, talent and generosity.
The service began with the arrival of the deceased in a white coffin, as tributes poured in highlighting his kindness and selflessness.
Abimbola Otusanya, a colleague from DAAR Communications where Dele Gold worked described him as a “generous giver” and shared a personal story of how he supported her during a difficult time.
“He wasn’t just a friend, but a brother to us at DAAR. He was always available and willing to help,” Otusanya recounted.
“In 2017, after I had surgery, I needed to travel to Ibadan. Dele gave me a car to take me there, completely free of charge.”
The officiating cleric also spoke fondly of the late singer’s dedication to his faith and his service to the church.
He revealed that Dele Gold never charged to perform at churches, using his talent as a form of ministry.
“Dele Gold made an impact with God. He never accepted a dime from churches to perform; he gave freely, serving God with all he had,” the cleric said, urging attendees to live meaningful lives of service.
Prayers were also offered for the singer’s wife and children, with the cleric encouraging them to hold on to their faith during this challenging time.
As the service drew to a close, family and friends gathered to say their final goodbyes as Dele Gold was laid to rest in a grave dug at his residence.
Notable figures present at the event included actor Saidi Balogun, gospel singer Genesis, and fellow musicians Wale Dada and Femi Solar.
