Grammy Awards: Burna Boy To Make History As First Nigerian To Perform At Grammy

Nigerian music superstar Damini Ogulu aka Burna Boy  is set to make history as the first Nigerian singer to perform at the 2024 Grammy Award ceremony.

The 32-year-old was announced alongside Luke Combs and Travis Scott on Monday morning by the Recording Academy.

“Attention: African Giant @BurnaBoy will take the #GRAMMYs stage on Sunday, February 4th at 8 PM ET / 5 PM PT on @CBS,”

the Grammy organisers wrote on their X handle.

Other performers earlier announced include Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, and Dua Lipa.

Burna Boy was nominated in three categories at the 66th Grammys – Best Melodic Rap Performance for ‘Sitting’ On Top Of The World,’Best Global Music Performance for ‘Alone,’ and Best African Music Performance for ‘City Boys.’

The 66th Grammy Awards will be held on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Recall in November 2023, Burna Boy secured four Grammy nominations for ‘Sitting On Top of the World’ (Best Melodic Rap), ‘I Told Them’ (Best Global Music Album), ‘Alone’ (Best Global Music Performance), and ‘City Boys’ (Best African Music Performance).

Burna Boy gained fame in 2013 after releasing ‘Like to Party’, the lead single from his debut album ‘L.I.F.E’.

With a string of awards and accolades, the singer has solidified his status as a leading artiste out of Africa.

In 2021, the singer set a record in Nigeria after his fifth album ‘Twice As Tall’ won the‘Best World Music Album’ category at the Grammys.
