Patrick Amenuvor, the man who started an attempt to break the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest-standing marathon by an individual in Accra (Stand-a-thon) has quit his challenge after four hours
Amenuvor was expected to stand from January 14 to Sunday, January 21, 2024 in his bid to set a new world record said he encountered some “insurmountable challenges”

Speaking in a press release, Amenuvor explained that he had broken some rules regarding governing the Standathon challenge and had to call it off to save his integrity.
The release reads,
“Due to my integrity and desire to win by fair play, I wish to inform all of my intention to stop my OFFICIAL STAND-A-THON attempt due to some rules I’ve broken which might sabotage my efforts to break the record.
At this point, I deem it fit to get back with my team to review our attempt so far and make sure to avoid any errors that may hinder my future attempt,
I want to use this opportunity to thankall whohave stood with me all this while and i want to assure all that Patrick Amenuvor STAND-A-THON is a dream that im not sleeping on . New date wull be communicated via all my social media pages . Thank you Ghana for the support. ”
he announced
Amenuvor’s attempt came after a sing-a-thon attempt, a lipstick-applying attempt and a Cook-a-thon attempt by other Ghanaians.
