A video showing the moment suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu arrived at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters in Abuja has surfaced on social media.
Top Society earlier reports that Edu came under heavy criticism from the general public after a memo surfaced wherein she asked accountant-general of the federation, Oluwatoyin Madein to transfer the sum of N585 million to a private account.

Following the outcry, EFCC requested to see Edu, however, less than an hour later, President Bola Tinubu suspended Edu with immediate effect.
A statement from the president’s spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale reads:
“The President further directs the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to conduct a thorough investigation into all aspects of the financial transactions involving the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, as well as one or more agencies thereunder.”
An EFCC source told PUNCH that the anti-graft agency’s chairman Ola Olukoyede recommended Edu’s suspension to pave the way for proper investigation.
Edu’s predecessor in the humanitarian ministry Sadiya Farouq is also under investigation over alleged N37.1 billion fraud.
