Kayode Laguda on Saturday emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary for the Surulere 1 federal constituency seat bye-election which will come up on February 3, 2024.
Laguda will flag the banner of the APC in the bye election to replace Femi Gbajabiamila, former speaker of the house, who represented the constituency before his appointment as Chief of Staff (CoS) to President Bola Tinubu.
In the primary election, which was held at the Teslim Balogun stadium on Saturday, Laguda defeated other contestants for the post in his party to clinch the party ticket for the bye election which came up.
Laguda defeated Kabir Lawal, Jamila Omobolanle and Abdul Raheem Owokoniran, to nick the ticket. He secured all the thirty votes of the delegates that voted in the election, while other aspirants did not get any vote.
The election was conducted by a five-member committee head by Buba Yusuf, while Dapo Lam-Adesina served as secretary.
