Invaders have issued ominous threats of fresh attacks on the Pushit community in Plateau State, scheduled for today, Friday. This announcement follows the recent massacre that claimed 195 lives across 17 communities in the state just four days ago.
Stanley Kavwam, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Middle Belt Forum, revealed in an interview with Arise Television that terrorists had sent a letter detailing an imminent assault on Pushit, Mangu Local Government Area, where he hails from. The Police Public Relations Officer, Alabo Alfred, confirmed awareness of the threat, stating that the authorities are diligently working on intelligence to address the situation.
Residents of Pushit, haunted by the looming danger, expressed their fear and sleepless nights since learning of the impending attack. Joshua Bukat, a villager, pleaded for government intervention, emphasizing the urgent need for security forces to act swiftly and protect lives.
This alarming development comes as the United Nations calls for an investigation into the Christmas Eve attacks that left 195 dead and displaced over 10,000 people in Barkin Ladi, Mangu, and Bokkos local government areas. The attacks prompted strong condemnation from President Bola Tinubu and other prominent figures.
Kavwam, shedding light on the gravity of the security situation, accused the military of being aware of the attackers’ identity and hideouts prior to the Christmas Eve massacre. Despite distress calls and forewarnings, the attacks unfolded without preventive action.

The Middle Belt Forum official also raised concerns about the flaws in the state’s security architecture, emphasizing the government’s primary responsibility for the welfare and security of its citizens.

The Federal Government, represented by Minister of Police Affairs Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, has pledged to track down and bring the perpetrators to justice.
