The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has announced a 50 percent reduction in the price of interstate transport fares for Nigerians during the Yuletide season. This is in a bid to make holiday travel more accessible for travellers this season.
This move follows the approval by President Tinubu on December 20, granting a 50% rebate for inter-state travels and a full 100% discount for train travels, catering to those eager to celebrate Christmas and New Year festivities in different parts of the country.
The announcement was relayed through a statement released by the NURTW Oshodi branch on Friday, December 22, outlining the terms and conditions of the fare reduction.

However, the statement also cautioned that transport fares could be subject to upward revision without notice, especially if there is a surge in passenger travel due to the festive season.
Additionally, the statement highlighted that transport operators have the flexibility to increase the frequency of their buses without prior notice to meet the rising demand from passengers during this Yuletide period.
