Tinubu Orders Reintroduction of School Feeding Programmes   


President Bola Tinubu has mandated the revival of school feeding programmes to address the pressing challenges confronting out-of-school children.

This initiative, which had been discontinued during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, is set to be reinstated under Tinubu’s directive.

President Tinubu noted the critical role of the school feeding program in combating the learning crisis, stating that resolving the issues faced by out-of-school children requires a comprehensive approach, with a focus on educational barriers.

The announcement was made by Prof. Tahir Mamman, the Minister of Education, during a one-day workshop aimed at delineating incremental improvements in the middle ministerial objectives between 2023 and 2027.

Prof. Mamman highlighted that the transfer of the school feeding program from the Ministry of Humanitarian to the Ministry of Education was a direct order from President Tinubu.

Addressing the workshop’s goals, the minister mentioned the need to translate policies into actionable strategies and allocate responsibility to the relevant organizations tasked with addressing the challenges of out-of-school youth. The retreat aimed to devise practical solutions and establish clear accountability measures for implementing policies designed to tackle the persisting issue.
