Dr Bawa Ahmed Abimiku, the former Commissioner of Health in Nasarawa State, has passed away after battling a prolonged illness.
The news was confirmed by a reliable family source, shedding light on the demise of a key figure in the state’s health sector.
Dr Abimiku, who also held the traditional title of Durbin Eggon, breathed his last in the early hours of Tuesday, December 19, at the Federal Medical Centre in Keffi. The veteran health professional had played a pivotal role in shaping the health landscape of Nasarawa State, contributing significantly to policy formulation and implementation.

During the administration of the late Alhaji (Dr) Aliyu Akwe Doma, Dr Abimiku served not only as the Commissioner of Health but also as a Member of the State Executive Council (SEC).
The funeral arrangements for Dr Bawa Ahmed Abimiku are set to take place at the Abuja Central Mosque, FCT, in accordance with Islamic tradition. The ceremony is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
