Ondo Assembly Confirms Akeredolu’s Medical Leave

During a press conference conducted today in Akure, Rt Hon Olamide Oladiji, the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, formally affirmed that he has received a letter from Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, wherein the governor expressed his plan to commence a medical vacation.

JUST IN: Akeredolu Commences Medical Leave 

The governor, who had previously delegated his responsibilities to his deputy, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa, is scheduled to proceed on medical leave starting December 13, this year.

The confirmation by Speaker Oladiji shed light on the governor’s decision, emphasizing that it follows medical advice recommending a follow-up examination despite his earlier recuperation.

Governor Akeredolu, who had delegated power to Deputy Governor Aiyedatiwa during his initial absence, has once again entrusted his deputy with the responsibilities of the state.

In his statement to the press, Speaker Oladiji expressed gratitude to God for the governor’s swift recovery and conveyed optimism about Akeredolu’s imminent return to his duties.

Tinubu Directs Electronic Transfer of Power from Ailing Akeredolu 

The Speaker reassured the public that the transmission of power was a precautionary measure, and he expected the governor to resume his responsibilities promptly after completing the necessary medical procedures.

According to him,

”Following the Doctor’s advice on the need for medical follow-up after recuperating,Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON has forwarded the letter on medical leave to the State House of Assembly. 

Oladiji said the

“Governor’s action is in line with Section 190 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended). 

“According to the letter,his Deputy,Hon.Lucky Aiyedatiwa would now assume the responsibilities of the Governor in acting capacity until there is a written declaration to the contrary. 

“The leave is expected to commence on Wednesday, 13th December, 2023.” 

The news comes amidst concerns about the governor’s health, with the people of Ondo State wishing him a successful and speedy recovery.
