Government Officials Defend 2024 Budget at National Assembly Interactive Session

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, alongside the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Adewale Adeniyi, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Petroleum Regulatory Commission, have convened at the National Assembly.

Security Chiefs Decline Parliamentary Invitation, Sectoral Debate Suspended 

The purpose of their visit is an interactive session with the House Committee on Appropriation, chaired by Abubakar Bichi.

The primary focus of this session is for the government officials to defend their respective 2024 budget estimates. Additionally, they are expected to elucidate the strategies devised to generate sufficient revenue essential for funding the ambitious 2024 budget.

The Committee, led by Abubakar Bichi, had extended invitations to various revenue-generating agencies, emphasizing the importance of unveiling measures aimed at boosting revenue generation.

The Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, is expected to outline the economic framework, fiscal policies, and revenue projections for the 2024 fiscal year. The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Adewale Adeniyi, will shed light on the customs revenue component, while the CEO of the Nigerian Petroleum Regulatory Commission will discuss revenue generation within the petroleum sector.
