The seven students from the Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA) in Nasarawa State, who were abducted four days ago, have been released.

The release was confirmed on Sunday evening following a joint operation by the military and other security forces.

The President of the Student Representative Council, Ibrahim Ogabo, conveyed this information.

The group, comprising three females and four males, was found at the school’s clinic at the time of filing this report. The abduction had occurred on Wednesday night, targeting students in their off-campus accommodation in Gandu village.

Immediate protests erupted among their fellow students, demanding the release of the abducted peers and calling for enhanced security measures in the area.

Gandu village, a significant student hub with over 6,000 residents, particularly those in the 300 to 500 levels, lacks university-provided housing, making it vulnerable to criminal activities.

Notably, Gandu has been a hotspot for criminal activities such as kidnappings and robberies, affecting both students and local residents, as well as businesses.
