During the early hours of this morning in Alapere Estate, Ketu axis of Lagos, an unidentified truck collided with a pedestrian bridge, causing injuries to several individuals.
The collision occurred at approximately 12 am.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that the incident happened when the truck, whose ownership and details remain unknown, struck the pedestrian bridge, causing damage.
Resident Umar-farouq Ogbe from Alapere Estate helped in spreading details about the incident by sharing videos on X (previously known as Twitter). These videos provided a glimpse into the aftermath of the collision, revealing the extent of the damage incurred.
Ogbe revealed that the initial video was sent to the Alapere Estate’s Whatsapp group chat by one of his friends. The footage circulated rapidly, sparking concern and raising awareness about the severity of the situation within the local community.
Reports indicate that about five individuals, who were present in a bus near the site of the accident, sustained injuries.
In a recent development regarding the Alapere Pedestrian Bridge, Hon. Sola Giwa, the Special Adviser on Transportation, is present on-site alongside LASTMA, ensuring the smooth flow of traffic. The road is now reopened for regular traffic.
