Prince Abdulfatai Adebayo Adeyemi, affectionately known as D-GOV and son of the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, has reportedly succumbed to complications related to diabetes. The unfortunate incident occurred in the early hours of Friday at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan.

The late Prince, a prominent figure in Oyo politics, had contested the 2019 House of Representatives election in Oyo federal constituency under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Despite his political pursuits, he faced defeat in the hands of his brother, Prince Akeem Adeyemi, who secured a second term under the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Prince Abdulfatai Adebayo Adeyemi remained resilient in public service and was later appointed by Governor Seyi Makinde as the Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Pension Board during the Omituntun 1.0 administration.
He died a day to his 47th birthday
