Senator Adams Oshiomole, representing Edo North, delivered a firm message during the 8th Quadrennial Delegates Conference of NASU in Abuja, emphasizing the urgent requirement for timely disbursement of the recently approved N35,000 minimum wage to employees in both public and private domains ahead of the Christmas season.
Oshiomole warned that failure to comply could jeopardize festive celebrations for employers.
Referencing the ongoing dispute between the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Federal Government over wage increments, Oshiomhole voiced concern over some state governments not adhering to the N35,000 minimum wage. He called upon the NLC President to address these disparities, emphasizing the necessity for a uniform implementation across all sectors nationwide.
The Senator concluded by issuing an ultimatum, if employers fail to fulfill the wage commitment, irrespective of whether they belong to the public or private sector, Christmas celebrations for them would be at risk.
