Army Chief Visits Kaduna After Deadly Air Strike Claims 85 Lives 


Following a devastating military air strike that claimed the lives of 85 individuals and caused injuries to many in Kaduna State, Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja has embarked on a visit to the impacted area.

The tragic incident occurred on Sunday when an army drone, intended for armed groups, inadvertently struck Tudun Biri village during a Muslim festival, according to the army’s admission.

Despite the army not officially disclosing casualty figures, residents reported the loss of 85 lives, predominantly women and children. The incident has been labeled as one of the deadliest military bombing accidents in the country.

Lieutenant General Lagbaja’s visit aims at conducting an on-the-spot assessment of the community’s devastation and expressing condolences to the grieving families.

President Bola Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, have both called for a thorough investigation into the incident.

President Tinubu expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives, describing it as “very unfortunate, disturbing, and painful.” He urged the public to remain calm as authorities diligently probe the mishap.

Atiku Condemns Drone Attack, Urges Improved Counter-Insurgency Strategies   

Presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale echoed the president’s sentiments, stating that Tinubu is indignant over the loss of Nigerian lives. Tinubu has further directed swift and comprehensive medical attention to surviving victims while extending prayers for the repose of the souls of the deceased.
