Nigerian actress cum activist and politician, Tonto Dikeh has come under heavy criticism for calling out the father of deceased Afrobeat singer, Mohbad, Joseph Aloba over claims that he was accepting money for interviews.
In a long post on Instagram, the mother of one on Thursday expressed disappointment with the actions of Mohbad’s father, after blaming him for failing to uphold his son’s memory.
The actress also apologized to the late singer, after noting that he deserves so much more than his present circumstances.
She further highlighted the disturbing manner in which the late singer’s was laid to rest, adding that the sight of his neck broken in the casket was unsettling despite a generous N2 million donation allocated for the burial.
She wrote;
“Papa Mohbad, I can empathize with the harsh realities of poor condition, but when it involves your own flesh and blood, your son, it’s truly heartbreaking. How is it that material things or wealth seems to outweigh the love for your own child? The hurried and undignified burial of our dear Mohbad within a mere 24 hours of his supposed passing, compounded by insufficient arrangements due to financial constraints after getting a whooping sum of 2 million Naira,is deeply distressing considering his status.”
Tonto emphasized that Mohbad’s remains were unearthed due to the outcry of concerned Nigerians.
She stressed that, despite being his son, Mohbad was also a married man, and his wife, Wunmi, should share responsibility for matters concerning him.
Reacting to the actress’ statement, some netizens took to the comment section of the post to slam her over her extended rant and backlash against Mohbad’s dad.
They voiced their displeasure, urging actress to grant the grieving father the space to mourn and address matters related to singer in his own terms.
