The Ondo State House of Assembly and its Speaker, RT HON Olamide Oladiji have decided to withdraw their appeal at the Court of Appeal in Abuja.

This appeal challenged the interim orders issued by the Federal High Court, which had restrained them and others from proceeding with the planned impeachment of the state’s deputy governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

The appeal not only contested the Federal High Court’s orders but also questioned the court’s jurisdiction to hear the substantive suit filed by Aiyedatiwa, seeking to block his impending impeachment by the state’s Assembly.

A three-member panel, led by Justice Haruna Tsammani, dismissed the appeal after the Assembly’s lawyer, Remi Olatubora (SAN), applied for its withdrawal. Olatubora informed the court that the parties involved had reached a political solution to their dispute and had signed an armistice.

Moving the application for withdrawal, Olatubora stated that his clients had given instructions to withdraw the appeal as part of enforcing their commitment to the armistice agreement.
