Mohbad: Court Denies Nurse, Late Singer’s Friend Bail

The Lagos State Magistrates’ Court in Yaba denied 37-year-old auxiliary nurse, Fisayo Ogedengbe arrested in connection with the controversial death of afrobeat singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, alias Mohbad, bail.

Recall, the Lagos State Police Command had declared the Fisayo who treated Mohbad, a “prime suspect” and had subsequently arrested her.

The command, based on layers of investigations, alleged the Nurse administered certain medications including an intravenous injection, “went beyond her limitation” thus, leading to the direct or indirect cause of his death.

The magistrate, Adeola Olatunbosun, had also ordered that late Mohbad’s friend, Ayobani Sadiq, being held as a suspect in the case, ordering the duo to be returned to police custody.

The magistrate, had however, granted bail in the sum of N20m each to embattled singer, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley and Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, aka Sam Larry, who were both fingered in the involvement of Mohbad’s death and taken into custody by the police on October 6.

The magistrate said,

“The defendants (Naira Marley and Sam Larry) are hereby granted bail in the sum of N20m with three responsible sureties in like sum pending the legal advice from the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution.

Furthermore, Olatunbosun emphasized that no one should attempt to contact her directly regarding the case, warning that any such attempts would be documented and potentially disclosed in open court proceedings.

“Any attempts to contact me directly would be recorded and potentially disclosed in open court proceedings,” she said.

Mohbad, 27, died on 12 September and was buried the following day in Ikorodu, Lagos.

The Nigerian police, however, exhumed his corpse on September 21 for autopsy following calls for investigation.

Several persons namely Naira Marley, Sam Larry, Primeboy, Spending and a nurse, were arrested and in police custody over the incident.
