The Alaba International Market has been closed by the Lagos State Government due to inadequate waste disposal practices and other related issues.
This announcement was made by the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, in an early Monday tweet.
“Alaba International Market, Ojo has been sealed up for poor waste disposal practices, failure to pay their waste bills, and gross environmental sanitation offences,” he wrote on X.
Earlier, the Lagos State Government had swiftly shut down the Mile 12 International and Owode Onirin markets due to unhygienic conditions and multiple environmental violations.
Nonetheless, Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed that after a comprehensive evaluation encompassing environmental adherence, waste control strategies, and overall market cleanliness, the markets were reopened.
