Senator Abbo Regrets Allegation Against Akpabio

Senator Abbo Elisha has expressed regret for his previous claim that the Senate President Godswill Akpabio conspired to have him removed by the Court of Appeal.

During an interview on Arise Television on Tuesday, Abbo issued the apology.

He stated,

“I have to say this with all sense of humility and responsibility that the press release we issued yesterday was premature and based on the available information at our disposal yesterday.

“As of today, we have discovered a lot of things, and yesterday night I had a discussion with the Senate president, and I am convinced that he is not involved.

“I swear by my mother’s grave that I’m not involved; I don’t even know that you’re in court,” he said.

Earlier at his residence in Abuja on Monday, following the nullification of his Senate election by the Court of Appeal, Senator Abbo alleged that Senate President Akpabio had intentions to oust not only him but also the former chief whip of the senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, and four other senators for not supporting Akpabio’s bid for senate presidency.

Abbo characterized the ruling that removed him from office as an affront to democracy, urging his supporters to remain steadfast despite the verdict.

The senator maintained that despite the Court declaring the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Amos Yohanna as the winner of the February election, he had actually emerged victorious, claiming an 11,000-vote lead over the PDP candidate.
