Ukpong-Udo made this announcement at the Ward Centre of Mbiaobong Ikot Udofia in Ini Local Government Area, marking the commencement of a ‘Thank You’ tour across his constituency. During this tour, he expressed his gratitude to the people who supported him throughout the electioneering period, even in the face of intimidation, violence, and financial inducement.

The beneficiaries of this gesture have been carefully selected from the 12 units within the constituency, demonstrating a commitment to equal representation and support for all.

Ukpong-Udo emphasized that this act of giving back was inspired by the overwhelming love and support he received during his election campaigns, where he made a point to engage with voters in every corner of the constituency.

“My primary duty is to serve the people, and so I want to do everything in my power to empower my people in return for the mandate they have entrusted me with.

“I will embark on this tour weekly over the next three months, during which time my emoluments for the next two years will be distributed to over 23,000 indigenes of this constituency and their families.

“I will continue an all-inclusive governance that would give equal opportunity to all supporters without discrimination,” the lawmaker stated.

During the event, all 1,337 local residents and backers of the Youth Progressive Party (YPP) were presented with monetary contributions. These funds were provided to alleviate the challenges posed by the current economic conditions resulting from the removal of petrol subsidies. Additionally, this gesture served as a token of gratitude for their unwavering support for the legislator and the party.

Meanwhile, Mr. Anietie Jackson, the YPP chapter chairman in Ini Local Government Area, characterized the tour as a unique and unprecedented occurrence in the political landscape of Akwa Ibom State.
